Bartenders Patrick Owens, Owen Thomson, and Ashley May are teaming up to open a bar of their own at 251 Florida Ave. NW.
Thomson runs the cocktail program at Bryan Voltaggio‘s Chevy Chase restaurant Range. Owens, who’s working at Ripple, and May, who’s at Velvet Lounge, co-organize monthly Spirits in Black nights where guest bartenders create metal-inspired cocktails while metal tunes blare in the background.
Owens is tight-lipped on the details for now, but a liquor license notice identifies that place as Seven Faces Barroom—a full-service tavern with occupancy of 85, “entertainment with DJ,” and sidewalk cafe.
Stay tuned for more details.
UPDATE: May tells Y&H that this will not be a metal-themed or Spirits in Black-style bar. She says Seven Faces Barroom will be very laid back and combine all the things that the trio love about their favorite watering holes, including food. The space is about 1,200 square-feet with a “pretty unique layout.” You’ll have to stay tuned for specifics about the menu, drinks, and design. May is equally vague about the opening timeline but says they’re shooting to debut in about six months.
