District Doughnut at last has a storefront: 749 8th St. SE on Barracks Row. Owners Juan Pablo Segura and Greg Menna have operated as a catering business since last year and also hosted a number of pop-ups. The doughnut shop, located in a former Marine Corps barbershop, is set to open in April. The space will be designed by CORE, which is responsible for the looks at Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, District Taco, Minibar, and others.
Pastry chef Christine Schaefer will make the doughnuts from scratch daily. Among the flavors in her rotating roster: dulce de leche, apple streusel, cannoli, PB&J, mocha crunch, and more. The shop will also offer coffee from small-batch roaster Caffe Amouri, based in Vienna.
