Blue Duck Tavern chef de cuisine John Melfi is parting ways with the restaurant at the Park Hyatt, where he’s been since 2011.

Melfi says he has “something big lined up for a big-name chef in the city” but is holding off on the announcement. Melfi wouldn’t say if he’s heading to a new or existing restaurant.

Prior to his time at Blue Duck Tavern, Melfi was executive sous chef at Vidalia. He was also a nominee for “rising culinary star” in the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington’s annual RAMMY awards this year.
