The K Street crowd has a new place to slurp oysters. Catch 15 opens tonight at 1518 K St. NW, and it’s kicking things off with a party serving complimentary oysters, small plates, and cocktails to the public from 6 to 8 p.m.

The new spot comes from restaurateur Tony Kowkabi, who also owns Toscana West and Ristorante Piccolo. Kowkabi collaborated with chef Vincent Torres to create a seafood and small plate menu, which spans from crab and zucchini cakes to ground lamb kabobs to a number of different ceviches.

Oysters range from $1.75 for Connecticut Blue Points to $2.75 for Prince Edward Island Malpeques. (That’s $21-$33 per dozen; see how they stack up on Y&H’s oyster price index.) There are also half a dozen “stuffed” oysters with ingredients like brie and crab meat or chorizo and hollandaise.

Entrees ($19-$26) include seafood paella and crabmeat ravioli plus non-seafood options like plancha-seared duck breast and grilled beef filet and portobello.

The cocktail menu is broken down by classic, “specialty,” and sparking drinks.  A selection of craft beers, 18 wines by the glass, and nearly 50 bottles are also available from the bar.

The restaurant has about 90 seats and a gas fireplace. A 30-seat outdoor patio will open when the weather warms up.
