Voting for D.C.’s next mayor is now officially a drinking game. Leading up to next Tuesday’s Democratic primary election, you can “drink the vote” at The Coupe in Columbia Heights by ordering cocktails paired with each of the mayoral candidates. If you want to vote for Vincent Gray, for example, you’d get the French Bikini cocktail. (The restaurant claims that the pairings are completely random and “have no connection or reflection on the candidates.”) Check out the rest of the candidate drink pairings (including one for Christian Carter, who dropped out of the race) below:
“Voting” begins at 5 p.m. tonight and continues through midnight on April 1. The candidate whose cocktail is ordered the most will be named the winner on April 2. In case you’re actually making your choice based on the candidate and not which cocktail you like, the restaurant has invited candidates to display campaign materials you can check out.
In addition, The Coupe, along with sister restaurants The Diner, Open City, Tryst (including the location at the Phillips Collection), will offer extended happy hour drinks and a free iced tea with any purchase to guests with an “I voted” sticker on election day.
