In an effort to bring attention to the wage gap between men and women, a handful of D.C. restaurants and bars are offering 23 percent discounts* today. The idea is to “call attention to the fact that women still make 77 cents to a man’s dollar,” according to local group Lean In DC, which organized the Equal Pay Day promotion. That oft-repeated statistic isn’t entirely accurate, but ladies, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying these deals on pizza, beer, and more:
Pizzeria Paradiso
All three locations (Dupont, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria) will offer 23 percent discounts on any size pizza for eat-in orders only when you mention the promotion to a server.
Boundary Road
The H Street NE restaurant will offer 23 percent off drinks all day (11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.).
Dacha Beer Garden
It’s our 40th anniversary! This year, give your community the gift of local journalism.
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier and Pilsner are 23 percent off at the Shaw beer garden.
Hank’s Oyster Bar
The Capitol Hill location will offer 23 percent off drinks from 6 to 8 p.m. Congresswomen Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Rosa DeLauro will join the happy hour. RSVP here.
The Ugly Mug
Look out for specials during lunch and from 9 p.m. until close.
Check out deals at other local businesses here.
*CORRECTION: This story initially stated that the discounts are for women only. However, an organizer corrects that the deals are for “women and their advocates,” so fellas, that can include you too.
