Always-packed 14th Street NW Spanish tapas spot Barcelona Wine Bar is opening another location at the Cathedral Commons development in Cleveland Park late this year or early next. It will be joined by Raku, which Y&H reported a year ago, in addition to a Giant supermarket, Starbucks, and lots of other retail.

This isn’t the only local expansion for the group behind the restaurant. The Connecticut-based company plans to open another Barcelona Wine Bar plus Bartaco—”upscale street food with a coastal vibe”—in Reston Town Center later this summer.

The restaurants’ publicist Ria Rueda didn’t have additional details to share yet. She says the new locations will be similar to the 14th Street spot, but not carbon copies.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 6, 2014 – The Bozzuto Group, a Greenbelt, MD-based real estate services company announced today that in addition to retail anchor Giant Food, seven additional tenants have signed leases to join Cathedral Commons, a brand new mixed-use development on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington, D.C.

Cathedral Commons is a joint venture of Ahold USA, parent company of Giant Food, Greenbelt-based Bozzuto Development Company, and Southside Investment Partners of Baltimore. The retail leasing is being handled by H&R Retail.

New retail, scheduled to begin delivering this fall, include Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar, Raku, iDoc Optical, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, CVS Pharmacy, and Starbucks, as well as the 56,000-square-foot Giant Food, which will bring a new urban prototype concept to the project. Various additional retailers will be announced in the coming weeks.

· Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar, an award-winning Spanish restaurant with a long list of tapas and wines from around the world, will open a 3,280-square-foot

· Raku, an Asian dining, sushi & sake restaurant, will open a 3,321-square-foot restaurant.

· Washington, D.C.-based full-service eye care store iDoc Optical will open a 1,210-square-foot office.

· Financial services company Wells Fargo will open a 2,004-square-foot bank.

· SunTrust Bank will open a 3,598-square-foot branch.

· CVS Pharmacy will open a 12,440-square-foot store, selling a wide assortment of general goods including cosmetics, greetings cards, convenience foods, seasonal merchandise and more.

· Starbucks coffee company will open a 1,900-square-foot store.

The residences at Cathedral Commons, opening this fall, will offer 138 apartment residences as well as eight townhomes, as well as high-end services and amenities including a boutique hotel-style lobby; fitness center; a library and conference room for private meeting space; resident lounge for hosted community social functions; rooftop deck and private outdoor courtyards; and a 24-hour concierge offering Bozzuto’s Top Notch services.

Inside each apartment will be a chef-inspired kitchen with quartz countertops, custom oak flat-panel cabinetry, white beveled subway backsplashes and upgraded GE stainless appliances. Living spaces will include hardwood flooring and contemporary chrome LED track lighting, while bathrooms will include Florentine Carrera floors and showers, chrome Moen fixtures, and custom-designed vanities with integrated square sinks.
