Last month, DCPS Chancellor Michelle Rhee raised some eyebrows when she all but said she’d be outta here if D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray becomes mayor. So LL filed a FOIA request to find out what Rhee and Mayor Adrian Fenty were discussing in regards to the election. Were they coordinating their messages? Strategizing the careful rollout of education-related initiatives? Something more sinister?

And after careful review, the answer turns out to be… Nothing. Well, at least not on their government-issued e-mail addresses.

“Your request returned no findings within the Executive Office of the Mayor,” wrote Sarah E. Latterner, the mayor’s FOIA officer.

Of course, Fenty and Rhee may be talking about the race through other channels, or they might be using a secret code on their public e-mail addresses that Latterner couldn’t pick up, or they might not be talking about the race at all.

Oh public records laws, how you tease!
