A mysterious three-wheeled vehicle showed up outside Washington City Paper‘s offices today. It was piloted by James P. Peters, a retired D.C. firefighter and fervent Vincent Gray supporter. And what it lacked in doors and windows, it made up for in campaign signs. The pod-like motorized tricycle is not an official campaign element: Peters has personally taken it to the streets to garner attention for Gray’s mayoral bid.
We spoke to Peters on Champlain Street NW this afternoon. Watch—and look at the Gray Wagon—here:
The closest approximation to the Graywagon that City Paper could find is the Sidam Xnovo, a gas-powered scooter-car hybrid that can seat two. Whatever it is—and officially sanctioned or not—it’s almost certainly giving Adrian Fenty‘s Smartcar a run for its money.
