What did one of Vincent Gray‘s closest friends and campaign chairman, Lorraine Green, tell him when he was thinking of challenging Mayor Adrian Fenty? Don’t do it, Vince.

Green, who once served as deputy director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and is expected to play a big role in Gray’s transition, said she told Gray when he was mulling a run that he was in a good place as D.C. Council Chairman and shouldn’t risk losing it.

LL asked Green what she was thinking early Wednesday morning as Gray was giving his victory speech.

“I’m so glad he didn’t listen to me,” she said.
