LL caught up with longshot mayoral candidate Carlos Allen yesterday while leaving Almost Mayor Vince Gray‘s Ward 5 townhall meeting. Allen spoke a little smack about Gray, saying the D.C. Council Chairman didn’t say anything substantive and is ducking responsibility for unpopular moves made by Fenty (like increasing parking meter rates) that Gray allowed to happen.
“It’s almost like he’s saying that ‘anything that Fenty put out I had nothing to do with it,'” Allen said, adding: “He’s like Yogi Bear: ‘I don’t know.'”
LL could not confirm that “I don’t know” was one of Yogi Bear’s catchphrases. From the Yogi Bear Wikipedia entry:
Besides often speaking in rhyme, Yogi Bear is well-known for a variety of different catchphrases, including his pet name for picnic baskets (“pic-a-nic baskets”) and his favorite self-promotion (“I’m smarter than the average bear!”), although he often overestimates his own cleverness. Another trademark of his is the deep and silly voice that he uses. He often greets the ranger with a cordial, “Hello, Mr. Ranger, sir!” He also likes to say, “Hey there, Boo Boo!” as his preferred greeting to his humble sidekick, Boo Boo.
