Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette Alexander has made a late-game defection from Team Sekou Biddle to Team Vincent Orange.
Why? Alexander says Biddle came to her a week ago and asked her for help getting a few votes in Ward 7 in tomorrow’s election. But, Alexander says, Biddle also made clear that he didn’t really want her help. (Which LL can’t help but think is probably not the best message to send when asking for help.)
“Basically, he didn’t need Ward 7 to win,” was how Alexander remembers the main point of her conversation with Biddle.
“I was pretty much shocked by that comment,” says Alexander, who, like most of the rest of the council, supported Biddle early on.
She says she’s now backing Orange because he’s “always been a friend.”
Biddle didn’t immediately return LL’s call for comment. Check back for an update if he does.
