There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Here’s a non-surprise: Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas is about to no longer be the chairman of the economic development committee, according to a council source.
Thomas, who was sued yesterday by Attorney General Irv Nathan for allegedly stealing city funds earmarked for youth sports and spending the money on a luxury SUV and golf games, indicated to reporters yesterday that he had no intention of stepping aside.
To see either if a) he’s changed his mind or b) he’s going to put up a fight, tune in to channel 13. The hearing should be underway shortly.
Update: Oops. LL may have jumped the gun there on the timing. Source says it’s not clear if Thomas will lose his committee today or at some later date.
Update No. 2: Reporters on the scene say councilmembers just finished meeting and Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown will make an announcement on Thomas’ fate tomorrow.
