If you like barbecue and local politics, be sure and make it over to Mayor Vince Gray’s Hillcrest home on July 30th for Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette Alexander‘s re-election campaign kick off.
Alexander’s been beat up a little in the press lately and could very likely soon be facing several competitors (Peacoholics co-founder Ron Moten has already announced his intent to run.) Some members of the ward’s old guard have publicly called for Alexander’s ouster.
So, LL asked Alexander if was trying to send a message by having her re-election campaign kick off at the home of Ward 7’s favorite son.
No message, says Alexander, save for the fact that the mayor likes her and lives in her ward.
“He knows that I’ve done a great job in Ward 7 and he supports me,” says Alexander. “He wants the progress to continue.”
Oh, LL almost forgot, the barbecue ain’t free. The suggested fundraising/donation levels are: Host: $1,000; Co-Host: $500; Supporter: $250; Guest: $100.
