Woo boy, Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells sure seems to have have pissed off some of his colleagues. And now he’s paying for it.

Greater Greater Washington wins the morning with the news that Wells is being stripped of his beloved transportation and public works committee and is being given the lump of coal known as the Committee on Libraries, Parks and Recreation. Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser, who previously had the parks committee, is moving up to government operations committee. That committee belonged to Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh, who is taking over transpo and public works.

GGW says Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown is punishing Wells for his investigation of Brown’s love of luxury Lincoln Navigators. That’s probably true in some part, but there’s more too it. Wells also screwed Brown by cobbling together a 7-6 vote blocking Brown’s buy-back plan on a municipal bond tax. And the fact that Wells appeared to have won in the recent redistricting battle also rubbed some of his colleagues the wrong way.

Also, it’s no secret that Wells has ambitions, which Brown does too. So, game on?
