Campaign Cash: LL’s mailbox reports that Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser has raised an impressive $85,000 so far and Councilmember Michael Brown has raised $60,000. LL will report on what others have raised later today.

Picky, Picky, Picky: D.C. trash police have been handing out $200 tickets for not recycling a single soda can, The Examiner reports. “It seems the ticket writers aren’t following the laws they’re supposed to enforce. District law allows for up to 30 percent of trash to be mixed with recyclable materials.” Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans says he feels like his ward is being unfairly targeted. #ward2problems

Game on: Money quote of the day goes to Joyce Scott, who is running to be the next president of the Ward 8 Democrats. Says Scott, about Marion Barry, “He needs to get out of the way … He needs to go on the back porch and write Tales from the Crypt.” Barry’s old flack, Natalie Williams is running against Scott. Meanwhile, Peaceoholics co-founder Jauhar Abraham is planning a run against Barry. But Barry isn’t worried. “I’m gonna beat the hell out of him.”

Pest Control Lobby Tries to Bypass Council: The pest control lobby still doesn’t like Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh‘s Wildlife Protection Act, which passed last year, and it’s asking Congress to defund the program. Like of the day, courtesy of WAMU: “Adcock says he’s all for home rule, as long as it doesn’t mean animals are ruling area homes.”

Investigate the Brass: Police Union boss Kris Baumann is calling for an investigation into whether some of MPD’s police brass are breaking D.C.’s residency requirement, TWT reports. Question: Has the residency requirement ever cost anyone his/her job?
