At-large Councilmember Vincent Orange wants councilmembers to make $170,000 a year (technically, he wants them to make $20,000 less than the Council chairman), so they can quit their other gigs and devote themselves full time to their legislative duties. That would mean a roughly 40 percent increase on their current salaries of $125,000-a-year, which are among the highest in the nation.
Orange says he’s not married to the $170,000 number, but he’s just starting a conversation about making councilmembers full time.
Here’s LL’s contribution to the conversation: Oh. Hell. No.
