Yesterday, Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown indicated via a broadcast outlet that the fight over higher marginal income tax rates for the wealthy is not over. Today, Mayor Vince Gray went on WTOP to say, oh yes it is.
Gray said that he’s not interested in reconsidering the council’s decision to raise income taxes on residents making $350,000 and notes that the pro-income-tax-increasing D.C. Fiscal Policy Institute commissioned a poll that says the majority of D.C. residents favored a tax hike.
“I’m not sure what the battle is about at this stage,” says Gray. “I don’t see any purpose in going back and revisiting it.”
Uh-oh, does LL hear the beginnings of another letter war?
