Here’s another sign that a growing swath of the D.C. political class see Mayor Vince Gray and D.C. Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown as dead men walking: Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans sounds like he’s already measuring the drapes for either of their offices should they vacate them early.
Evans said today on Newstalk with Bruce DePuyt that if the opportunity arises,(i.e. Gray and/or Brown resign due what’s happening now with their respective federal investigations), then he’s “certainly take a hard look at it.”
When asked whether he’s willing to take a pay cut (Evans would have to drop his other gig at Patton Boggs), Evans said he would “figure out a way to make it work.”
“I certainly would have to tighten my belt,” Evans says.
That Evans has aspirations beyond his Ward 2 seat isn’t news. That he’s mulling in public a run for offices that are currently occupied by two guys under federal investigation is.
