Danita Doleman, a former associate of Harry Thomas Jr., appears to have taken a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Doleman was charged today with lying on her taxes, court record show (which the Examiner was first to report.)

LL was the first and only reporter to figure out that Doleman was INDIVIDUAL #4 in court records filed when Thomas pleaded guilty to stealing public money in early January. Those court records allege that Doleman and her nonprofit Youth Technology Institute (known only as ORGANIZATION #3) gave Thomas a $5,000 kickback on a $10,000 grant. The records also say Thomas used Doleman’s group to funnel $100,000 in drug prevention money to cover the costs of an inaugural ball.

Thickening the plot is the fact that Doleman was briefly employed at the city’s homeland security agency under Millicent West. West’s previous job was running the Children & Youth Investment Trust Corporation, the publicly funded nonprofit that Thomas used to conceal his thefts. West resigned in January as homeland security boss because of her role in the Thomas fiasco, though she’s not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Doleman’s court filing indicates that she’s almost certainly entered into a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Two other former Thomas associates who played role similar to Doleman’s have already pleaded guilty.
