Ward 6 Councilmartyr Saint Tommy Wells has formed a mayoral exploratory committee and says it’s “likely” he’ll run, he’s not yet said it’s a sure thing. But here’s a sign he’s almost definitely running: he’s looking to hire a campaign manager.
From the email list jobs that are left comes this ad, which notes that “some familiarity with the District of Columbia [is] a plus.”

Currently seeking resumes for qualified candidates interested in the position of Campaign Manager. This would be a campaign position running through Election Day April, 2014.
The successful candidate will oversee campaign staff as well as work with volunteers, vendors and campaign advisers.
The ideal candidate must have a strong field background, a basic facility with budget management, media relations and campaign technology.
Some familiarity with the District of Columbia a plus. Most important are good political judgment, strong people skills and willingness to put in the hours a competitive race requires.
Qualified candidates must be highly organized, highly motivated and capable of working through a demanding work environment.
Responsibilities
The Campaign Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of the campaign. Duties include:
- Supervising staff
- Developing campaign program
- Working with candidate to meet deadlines and achieve campaign goals;
- Oversee the work of vendors and consultants; e.g. printing, media, polling, mail, phone, Internet consultants, etc.
- Any other campaign related tasks as needed.
A Campaign Manager should expect a demanding work schedule and be available long hours, seven days a week through Election Day. This person should also be able to work under minimal supervision.
The Campaign Manager will report to the Candidate.
