Do you have a plan to vote?
Let us tell you the information you need to register and cast a ballot in D.C.
It’s not a D.C. mayoral race without some campaign songs—-the 2010 Adrian Fenty–Vince Gray race, after all, brought about the surprisingly catchy “Don’t Leave Us Fenty”. For the 2014 cycle, the mayoral campaign of Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells has inspired a Wells-themed go-go song: “Tommy Wells, One More Time.”[audio:http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/looselips/files/2013/05/tommywells.mp3|titles=tommywells]
The song, written by John “Peter Bug” Matthews, includes several planks of Wells’ “livable, walkable” platform:
- Green space (“A park, just around the corner, just around the bend. For me and my canine.”)
- Multimodal transportation (“Bicycles powered by the human race”)
- D.C. voting rights (“Taxation without representation lead to revolt in the colonies.”)
