Embattled District money man Jeff Thompson has a little more cash to spend after selling a downtown office building for $9.5 million, the Washington Business Journal reports. The building at 1025 15th St. NW, once the headquarters for Thompson’s Chartered Health, is expected to become a hotel.

It’s probably not as fast a sale as Thompson wanted. Footing the bill for one of the country’s top defense lawyers, Thompson has reportedly been looking for a quickie cash sale on the building since September 2012. Still, it’s a nice $4.35 million profit on the $5.15 million that Thompson’s D.C. Healthcare Systems paid for the building ten years ago.

So how does a recently unemployed mogul spend $9.5 million? LL can think of a few ways.
