“For me to be critical of the job he’s doing would be critical of the job I’m doing.” – Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans, Nov. 13.
Jack Evans‘ plan to pitch his mayoral campaign as the second coming of Vince Gray became obsolete in early December, when Gray’s decision to seek re-election meant that voters hoping for four more years wouldn’t need to look for a substitute. That left Evans campaigning against someone whose reputation he’d been burnishing for months.
In December, Evans refined his Gray alternative messaging, telling DCist that he’s not running against the mayor, he’s running for mayor. Uh-huh.
Honorable Mention, Evans Campaign: “I want this city to look like it barfed up Jack Evans.” – Evans campaign manager Josh Brown, Oct. 16.
