The plethora of District mayoral candidates has meant a job for many political operatives. Sometimes, it means more than one job. Less than a month after exiting Vince Gray‘s re-election bid after its surprise Ward 8 straw poll loss, former Gray deputy campaign manager Kouri Marshall has been hired onto Ward 6 councilmember and mayoral hopeful Tommy Wells‘ campaign.
Wells campaign manager Chebon Marshall says Kouri Marshall, who didn’t respond to LL’s request for comment, will be working as a consultant on get-out-the-vote work. (The two aides are not related.) Chebon Marshall says the campaign had been considering hiring Kouri Marshall, who managed Anita Bonds‘ successful D.C. Council bid last April, before he left Gray’s operation.
Gray campaign manager Chuck Thies told LL that he wishes Marshall well. “Just because someone was not able to succeed in one environment, doesn’t mean that I’ve written them off,” Thies says.
