What would it look like if Daniel Johnston was running for attorney general of the District? Probably like this mailer from attorney general hopeful Paul Zukerberg, which opts for a low budget cartoon look over the usual stock photography.

“In a world where politicians aren’t always what they promise…” the mailer intones over a scene that’s one Pigskins mug away from being a scene from the Michael Brown sting. On the flip side, the mailer looks more traditional, with an enormous picture of Zukerberg.

The cartooning might not set at ease someone concerned about Zukerberg’s ability to run the Office of the Attorney General. But Zukerberg campaign manager Lenox Ramsey Jr. says the cartoon was aimed at catching eyes.

“We wanted to make sure that people actually took the time to stop and look at it,” Ramsey says.
