After lying in state for 24 hours at the Wilson Building today, Marion Barry’s casket will head to Southern Avenue SE tomorrow morning. The procession, which was once intended to go through the District’s eight wards, has now been scaled back to a tour across the Anacostia River and past Ward 8 landmarks significant to Barry.
See a map of the procession, which starts at 9:30 a.m., above. The route passes by two of Barry’s former residences, as well as his Martin Luther King Avenue SE constituent service office, Rev. Willie Wilson‘s Union Temple Baptist Church, and Cora Masters Barry‘s Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
The procession is scheduled to end at Temple of Praise Church at 700 Southern Ave. SE, where Barry mourners can visit from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a service at 6:15 p.m.
