When it comes to ping-pong and the D.C. Council, Councilmember Vincent Orange is the best. The at-large councilmember triumphed over his Council colleagues this afternoon at a tournament sponsored by the Golden Triangle BID.
Orange defeated Ward 8 Councilmember LaRuby May in the finals, helped along by a vicious serving technique. For the rest, there were excuses.
“You know, I focus on legislation,” said Council Chairman Phil Mendelson after losing a point to Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh.
“This table’s not regulation,” joked Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, knocked out by Orange in the first round.
