Muriel Bowser and Wizards owner Ted Leonsis are close to a deal for a Wizards practice facility on the eastern side of the St. Elizabeths campus, the Post reports.
The practice facility, which would be located near the Congress Heights Metro station, would also include an arena for the Mystics, Leonsis’ WNBA team. A Bowser administration official—who spoke on background with LL because the deal isn’t signed yet—says that the package should be announced later this week.
The practice facility could cost as much as $60 million, according to the Post, with the District putting up the land and an unspecified amount of the building cost.
Leonsis originally considered a spot in Shaw for the practice building, but ran into community opposition.
