Vincent Orange wants to be your at-large councilmember for another four years. On Friday, Orange, fresh off ping-pong triumph, registered as a candidate in next year’s at-large race.

Despite dismal results in last year’s mayoral race, both in terms of votes and fundraising, Orange looks set to cruise to re-election in next year’s Democratic primary thanks to vote-splitting opponents. David Garber, Orange’s only declared opponent so far, has already started attacking Orange’s ethics record.

LL’s watching how Muriel Bowser and her affiliated Green Team PAC treat Orange, who, like fellow incumbent Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette Alexander, has been cozying up to the mayor.

There’s not much else from a tight-lipped Orange, who would only admit to LL in a text message that his candidate registration had “transpired.” In the meantime, LL’s hoping next year brings another classic Orange campaign jingle.
