Well, this is certainly some astute political analysis of the federal worker pay freeze, Time blogger and Mother Jones(?)alum Michael Scherer:

There are rules of politics, and then there are laws. One of the latter, often attributed both to Texas football coach Darrell Royal but which dates to at least the 1920s, is just seven words: “Dance with the one that brung ya.” There are other ways of saying it of course: Don’t forget where you came from; don’t cross the base; don’t piss off the money people.

But alas, that is just what Obama did today, in the first of several moves to get out ahead of the new Republican majority in the House.

No shit, a president willing to actually go up against the “money people”?!?! Here’s what Obama had to say:

Today I’m proposing a two-year pay freeze for all civilian federal workers.  This would save $2 billion over the rest of this fiscal year and $28 billion in cumulative savings over the next five years.

Two BILLION dollars…I wonder how much you would have to raise taxes on the wealthiest one percent to raise two BILLION DOLLARS over the course of the fiscal year? Crap, this can’t be right…

Crap that is like totally nothing! No wonder they are raising such a fucking shitstorm about keeping their Bush tax cuts!Obama would have to freeze the pay of his “money people” back to the Ice Ages to make as much money as you could just skimming it all from them.

*Tax only billionaires and centimillionaires, and you could do it with an extra 0.275% in taxes at most. But why do a thing like that when you can assrape unionized labor one more because who the fuck else are they going to vote for?
