The Director’s Award, bestowed by festival director Juliane Brienza for general excellence, was shared by two Capital Fringe artists this year: Fringe perennials Pointless Theatre for Imagination Meltdown Adventure and Capital Fringe novice Yanomi, a Tokyo native who has been touring her A Day in the Life of Miss Hiccup on a circuit of North American Fringe festivals this summer. Yanomi joined four members of Meltdown‘s sprawling company — director Lex Davis, composer/cowriter Aaron Bliden, cowriter Frank Cervarich and art director/company co-artistic director Matt Reckeweg — to discuss their shared achievement.

Coincidentally Lindsay Boyle reviewed both shows for Fringe & Purge; A Day in the Life of Miss Hiccup is here and Imagination Meltdown Adventure is here. I also chatted with three of Imagination Meltdown’s principal creators a the Fringe preview event three weeks ago.
