If you need a midweek treat, here are two: First, all Cava Mezze Grill locations are giving out free samples of their new salted dark chocolate chip oat cookies from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cookies are part of a partnership with local baker Jenna Huntsberger of Whisked!, whose pies and other sweets you can find at a number of farmers’ markets around the city. Going forward, the Mediterranean fast casual chain will sell the cookies for $2.75 each.

And if you haven’t yet tried the sandwich that Washington City Paper named the city’s best in our annual Best of D.C. issue, here’s a good excuse: DCity Smokehouse at 8 Florida Ave. NW is offering its Meaty Palmer sandwich for $1 off (normally, it’s $9) from noon to 8 p.m. The sandwich consists of thick slabs of smoked turkey and pork belly topped with smashed avocado and jalapeño aioli on toast. Trust us, it’s delicious.
