After opening last August, the owners of Malgudi have closed the second location of their southern Indian restaurant at 1633 P St. NW. The original Glover Park location remains open.
“While at the time it seemed like a really good idea to open a second Malgudi, it later turned out that we were really splitting our own customers,” says co-owner Mitul Tuli, who also operates Heritage India. “Also people seemed very confused with north and south Indian fare.”
Heritage India is still open above the former Malgudi space. Tuli says they are thinking of replacing the short-lived restaurant with a bistro/cafe, but she said she could not provide further details at this time.
