Tonic in Mount Pleasant has closed its doors after 10 years, the restaurant announced last night on Facebook. Tonic at Quigley’s near George Washington University will remain open.

“It gives me a chance to focus on GW and maybe see my kids a little more often,” co-owner Jeremy Pollok tells Y&H. “And also it was just time for a change for Mount Pleasant. It needed to be refurbished or redone. It was feeling its age a little bit.” He adds that after his business partner Eric “Bernie” Bernstrom moved to Italy two years ago and other personnel changes, it was easier to focus on one location.

Local blog The 42 has the scoop on Tonic’s replacement: Goodall’s Organic Bistro. The restaurant from Mount Pleasant resident Will Warren will feature a seasonally changing menu with foods from local and organic farms and ranches, including vegan/vegetarian options. Stay tuned for more details.
