Head over to grilled cheese haven GCDC this afternoon for another variety of cheese sandwich: the ice cream kind. The Pennsylvania Avenue restaurant, a block from the White House, is giving the first 40 customers lined up at 4 p.m. complimentary orders of its latest concoction, consisting of homemade cream cheese ice cream stuffed between brioche French toast dipped in chocolate ganache or bourbon caramel.
The treats will otherwise be available for $7 each from 4 to 7 p.m. every day throughout the summer. Enjoy them on GCDC’s new 16-seat patio, which also debuts today. Here are the flavors in store:
- Chocolate + Vigilante Coffee: Milk chocolate, Grand Marnier, cardamom, cinnamon, half-dipped in housemade chocolate ganache
- Strawberry: Fresh strawberries, bourbon vanilla, brown sugar, lemon zest; half-dipped in housemade chocolate ganache
- Caramel Apple: Fresh Red Delicious apples, cinnamon; half-dipped in housemade bourbon caramel
