Wolfgang Puck wannabe Mike Isabella will give diners an early taste of his forthcoming Ballston Mexican cantina Pepita with an evening pop-up at G next month.
The four-course menu for $40 will begin with a selection of antojitos—meaning “little cravings”—like tomatillo guacamole and a pumpkin seed dip (a dish from Isabella’s days at Bandolero). That’s followed with a choice of soup, salad, or ceviche and then a choice of tacos or other street food dishes. Orange cinnamon flan and chocolate tres leches are the dessert options. A vegetarian menu will also be available upon request. Coastal-themed cocktails from beverage director Taha Ismail will be offered a la carte for $11 to $13.
The Pepita menu will be available at G from 6 to 9:30 p.m. from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, Nov. 4-5, and Nov. 7-8. Reservations can be made by calling (202) 234-5015. Pepita is slated to open at 400 Wilson Blvd. in early 2015.
