Right Proper Brewing Company chef Robert Cain is leaving the Shaw brewpub to oversee food and beverage at a resort in Belize. Taking his place? Jim Jeffords, who’s spent the past three years as executive chef for Del Rey’s Evening Star Cafe and previously worked at CityZen. The Georgia native will bring his knack for Southern cooking to the restaurant.
When he starts in a couple weeks, Jeffords will not be introducing any immediate sweeping changes, says co-owner Thor Cheston. And don’t worry, favorites like the lamb French dip and Southern-fried “chick filet” sandwich aren’t going anywhere. Jeffords will still be “making significant additions,” Cheston says, and designing new menus for catering and private dining.
No word yet on who will replace Jeffords at Evening Star Cafe. “We are grateful to Jim Jeffords for his contributions over the last three years. Jim played an integral role in the re-opening of the Evening Star after an extensive renovation and re-design. We wish him all the best and look forward to following his career,” said owner Michael Babin in a statement.
