At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange has plenty of reasons he thinks voters should back him over challengers Robert White and David Garber—and he was happy to repeat them ad nauseamin a Friday appearance on WAMU’s The Politics Hour. But Orange also unveiled a more unorthodox reason that he should be re-elected: He’s fit!
Orange never shies away from talking about his quest for fitness. But LL thinks this might be the first time Orange has touted it as a reason to cast your ballot for him. When Tom Sherwood asked Orange about Garber’s charge that he’s part of a corrupt political old guard, Orange responded curiously by instead talking up his weight loss.
“I will tell you that none of the people I’m running against have more energy than me,” Orange said. “I’m in great shape. I’ve lost 65 pounds.”
All this talk about fitness—will it be long before Orange takes a cue from Donald Trump and declares his opponents “low energy”?
