The District’s Office of the Inspector General arrested a high-ranking District Department of Transportation employee today on charges of covering up nearly $200,000 worth of outside income.
Ali Shakeri, a project manager who handled projects in Wards 5 and 6, has been charged with making a false statement. OIG alleges that Shakeri failed to report $170,000 in income from “numerous sources” outside the District on his 2013 and 2013 financial disclosure forms.
Shakeri, a 12-year DDOT employee, already pulled in a hefty $150,358.14 annual salary from the city, according to city records. Neither Shakeri or DDOT responded to LL’s request for comment.
