A difference of two letters is turning the tables on an anti-gay message scrawled onto a sidewalk in Dupont Circle, the District’s historically queer neighborhood.
Someone had recently spray painted the words “down with the gay agenda” in blue outside the Thaiphoon restaurant on the 2000 block of S Street NW, Borderstan first reported on Monday. But as of shortly before 3 p.m., the phrase had been changed to “down with the gun agenda,” with the word “gun” in red and all-caps. Dito Sevilla, a Dupont resident, identified himself to Borderstan as the editor and took credit on Twitter:
The Metropolitan Police Department says it’s investigating the incident. It follows the deadliest mass shooting on a single day in American history at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, early Sunday. D.C.’s Capital Pride Parade took place on Saturday.
