Will the District’s politicians ever get along? Probably not, but the D.C. Democratic State Committee will give it a try anyway at their usual post-primary “unity breakfast” tomorrow.
Between 8:15 and 10 a.m. on Thursday, the newly presumptive councilmembers will make nice with their defeated incumbents and other party types at the 5th St. NW Busboys and Poets. The lowest expected contribution level: $51.
Maybe most interestingly, both new presumptive Ward 7 councilmember Vince Gray and his rival, Mayor Muriel Bowser, will be there. The last time Gray and Bowser appeared at a “unity” breakfast, Bowser had just thumped Gray in the 2014 mayor’s race. Back then, Gray avoided endorsing Bowser for the general election and all but avoided her until reporters prodded him about it.
