D.C. police say a 50-year-old Maryland man was killed in a high-speed traffic crash in Northwest on Saturday night.
Vincent King died after driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz into a 2010 Ford F-150 pick-up truck on the 2500 block of Georgia Avenue NW shortly before 9 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Police Department. King had been going south “at a high rate of speed,” D.C. police explain; he was pronounced dead on the scene while the Ford operator received minor injuries.
“The impact caused the Ford to cross the double yellow line, mount the east side curb, strike a tree and light pole, overturn, and come to a final rest,” a release notes.” Meanwhile, the Mercedes mounted the west side curb, struck a chain link and a fire hydrant, and overturned.”
King lived in Wheaton. His death brings the number of traffic fatalities recorded in the District in 2016 into the double digits.
