Get ready to celebrate the life and music of the Godfather of Go-Go this weekend: On Saturday, D.C. will host the second annual Chuck Brown Day at the famed local musician’s namesake memorial park in Northeast.

Shortly after Brown’s death in 2012, then-mayor Vince Gray declared an annual celebration of the go-go legend on or around Aug. 22, Brown’s birthday. And two years later, in 2014, an amphitheater-less Chuck Brown Memorial Park opened in a portion of Langdon Park as a living memorial to Brown. Last year saw the first Chuck Brown Day celebration in the park with a performance by The Chuck Brown Band and on Saturday—just shy of what would have been Brown’s 80th birthday—the band is back for the annual celebration. The music doesn’t stop there: Plunky and The Oneness and Secret Society will also perform.

Here’s to the Godfather:

Saturday, August 20 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chuck Brown Memorial Park, 2901 20th St. NE. Free.
