Listen up, Anglophiles! Glasgow, the city that brought you the second coming of the Archduke of Austria, has tossed another four-piece across the pond: the Cinematics. Sure, Franz Ferdinand—along with a laundry list of similar U.K. dance-rock imports—enjoyed their dizziest moments on the charts over here a couple years back. But with their freshman album, A Strange Education, the Cinematics intend to keep the Scottish-rock revival alive, and they’ve got the flop haircuts and skinny ties to prove it. At the very least, it’s clear they’ve been studying their contemporaries’ liner notes: They offer up similar throwaway lyrics layered with cheeky guitars and insistent beats—along with a fairly standard cover of Beck’s “Sunday Sun” tossed in for good measure. The Cinematics perform with Carina Round at 8:30 p.m. at the Rock and Roll Hotel, 1353 H St. NE. $10. (202) 388-7625.
