One can only hope that former presidential press secretaries Tony Snow, Joseph Lockhart, Marlin Fitzwater, and Joseph Powell give more informative answers to the questions asked by moderator Kenneth Walsh regarding their respective careers than they did while actually serving their posts. Granted, it’s probably easier to answer softball inquires by Walsh, chief White House correspondent for U.S. News & World Report, in the Smithsonian Resident Associates’ informal “An Evening With the Presidential Press Secretaries” than it is to dodge an onslaught of angry questions from a roomful of reporters tired of evasive responses. For the $40 price of admission, though, audience members will certainly be asking for more than a “I will not discuss that matter” or “I do not recall” response when asked, “So, how did you like working at the White House?” The program begins at 6:45 p.m. at the United States Department of Interior, 1849 C St. NW. $40.
