FOR 147 YEARS, WASHINGTON Gas Light Co. has consistently set forth standards of excellence for delivering reliable, safe service to our valued customers. That is why I am concerned that Marty McDonnell’s article, “The Gas Man Cometh” (10/6), may have suggested to some of your readers that Washington Gas meter readers are generally less than dedicated to serving them.

The fact is that the vast majority of our employees find great satisfaction in making sure that our customers receive the best energy value. This is despite the fact that job assignments at Washington Gas are not always easy, just as at any other company which works hard to serve the public. As a company, we are proud of our employees’ commitment to quality and very appreciative of the opportunity to serve our customers.
