THE RECENT ARTICLE ON the potential closing of the District of Columbia Animal Shelter on New York Avenue (“Dog Days,” The District Line, 10/20) and the subsequent letters to the editor might lead your readers to assume there are no other animal shelters within the District.
The Washington Animal Rescue League, located at 71 Oglethorpe St. NW, has been providing shelter and adoption services to DC’s four-legged residents for over 80 years. The Washington Animal Rescue League is a private, not-for-profit organization, solely dependent on private donations. We are pleased to announce the expansion of our facilities for small animals. We make every effort to ensure that animals are adopted into loving homes. The league is completing a veterinary hospital to provide low- cost care to the pets of low-income families and individuals. We invite your readers to visit and consider a lovable addition to the family.
