Of all those hot new San Diego post-punk bands, Rocket from the Crypt is the only one that really sounds like it hails from Southern California. That’s because this unapologetically bouncy quintet is fundamentally a surf-music ensemble; even when the horns are taking things in a neo-R&B direction, the guitars are still riding the wave. With The Swingin’ Neckbreakers and The Pee-Chees, an appealingly sloppy Berkeley punk quartet featuring former Bratmobiler Molly Neuman, at 10 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $7. (202) 667-7960. (MJ)
