In 1979, NBC aired a wryly engaging little film during one of Saturday Night Live‘s off-weeks. Diary of a Young Comic sharply skewered Southern California neuroses but did little for the career of its star and writer, Richard Lewis. He would wait a decade before returning to the box. No longer young, Lewis has not let his eventual success translate into any manner of contentment, however, and he can still rant and rave with more neurotic vigor than most of the kids on the scene today. Help him get through his “Magical Misery Tour” at 8:30 & 10:30 p.m. tonight & tomorrow, and at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Improv, 1140 Connecticut Ave. NW. $20. (202) 296-7008. (Dave Nuttycombe)
